Online Research – Women in the Brightlingsea Fish Yards

We are looking for more information about women who worked at the Brightlingsea Fish Yards between 1918 and 1939. To give us a starting point, we are asking for volunteers to look online and collate a list of websites that have relevant information

What's involved?

If you can spare an hour or two then please use search engines to look for information about women working at the Brightlingsea Fish Yards, save the URLs that you find and email them to us.

Why get involved?

While typically perceived as a “masculine” work place, Brightlingsea Museum has photographic evidence that there were women who worked there and would love to know more about them. An initial trawl of the internet will help us know where to look for more information. If you don’t have a lot of time but would like to support the project, this gives you a chance to work from home at your own pace

How to get involved?

Step 1: Sign into your account or sign up

Step 2: Accept the challenge

Step 3: Collate a list of URLs and email them to pippa.smith@essex.gov.uk
